So.... you going to go right away and do a review????????????????????

I saw the trailer. Funny thing is that it looks too slick. It just doesn't seem right that the movie was done with a huge special effects budget. The bargain basement BBC special effects seemed about right.

Yes, I also wonder how the humor will translate. I remember watching the tacky BBC series too. Also, watched some of the Dr Who repeats on the Sci-Fi channel, I think it was... Man, those monsters, I swear my old Halloween costumes put them in the shade! It's amazing what you can do with heaps of silver kitchen foil & empty egg cartons

Yeah, I LOVED the BBC one, because it stayed true to the brilliant dialog.
If I didn't know the novels and saw these commercials, it looks like an action movie. Frankly, it's not even being advertised as a comedy, which I don't understand. Granted, I love special effects so either way I'd be OK, but still!
All that great dialog, and they use none of it for the promos. Now, I think we all know that Hollywood has this nasty habit of dumbing down movies for it's American audiences. I really, really hope they don't do that here. It would not be wise to piss off millions and millions of geeks... LOL!

As an afterthought, I do think they made a GREAT casting call with Zaphod. I love that guy!

i'm just glad they are doing it. if it serves no other purpose than getting people to read the books then they have done a great service to everyone. personally i can't wait to see the special effects. man, i watch star trek mainly just so i can see someone shoot off a phaser pistol. i can't help it, i love that stuff!

Glad to see that soon you will be able to have your very own copy of the "Hitchhikers Guide"...
