Via Adam Gaffin, a link to Dennis Clarke with vi and Coffee:

Lotus Domino is a very large product. It has survived and thrived for well over a decade and seems to be well placed in government, financial and private business sectors concerned with enterprise class security and stability in their IT infrastructure. In the very beginning Lotus Notes was sold as "GroupWare" under the banner "the fastest way to a responsive organization" and there was nothing on the market quite like it. I still have the diskettes for Lotus Notes 2.15a for OS/2 here in my desk.
Lotus Notes on Solaris was an awesome thing to anyone with more than ten thousand users. Here we are some fifteen years later and the product is still booming along. I think that there are very few products that have a long track record of success in such a dynamic market. In the event of a complete atomic meltdown there will be cockroaches, UNIX, Lotus Notes and Cher. Not necessarily in that order.

That's followed by a lot of detailed technical info about Domino, Solaris Express, and ZFS.

And that is why, a thousand years from now, Professor Wernstrom will be able to boast that his killbot is equipped with Lotus Notes and a machine gun.
