That's my explanation for today's surprise 7th inning stretch announcement. That's based on the pattern of injuries to the other Yankee starting pitchers, and the fact that between pitchers and non-pitchers so far this season six Yankee players have been put on the disabled list for hamstring injuries. He doesn't need the money, and he's really got nothing left to prove. He's not going to catch Nolan Ryan's strikeout record. So the hamstring must be it.

Seriously, I do find it pretty amazing how much power Clemens has. Has anybody else is sports history, ever, been able to "retire" and then dictate the terms of his "come back" so completely and so many times? I certainly can't think of anyone. Not in American sports, anyhow.

Michael Jordan, maybe?

I'm hoping The Rocket can do some good for the Yankees. I've liked him for a long time. Even when he was a Red Sox player. My college roomie and longtime friend is a big Sox fan. So even though we didn't get along with me being a Yankees fan, we could both enjoy The Rocket. lol

Ah, yes. Michael Jordan. Great example. He even did the mid-season thing. Clemens probably watched and learned from that, and now we have another "Retro Rocket" or "Rocket Re-entry" or whatever the New York papers are calling it.
